A Mirror of Summer Memories

Volunteers from the center took up the "Wave of Kindness" challenge and held an art therapy session for members of the 60+ Club

Our volunteer center took up the "Wave of Kindness" challenge from Volunteer Community Kremenchuk. The theme of the creative gathering was "My Treasure Box of Summer Memories." We reflected on what makes summer memories truly valuable and realized that the warmest moments remain not only in our memories but also in our hearts.

That is why volunteers invited members of the 60+ Club to a special art therapy session. This time, instead of traditional canvases, they chose mirrors, hot glue guns, stained glass paints and brushes. Summer themes became a source of inspiration, and each mirror was to become a unique creation filled with personal memories.

At the beginning of the gathering, a volunteer invited participants to try an unusual exercise. She placed a mirror inside a book and asked everyone to mentally return to their warmest summer memory. When participants opened the book, they saw their own reflection in the mirror.

This simple but symbolic exercise carried an important message: we are the creators of our own memories, and our most precious moments stay with us, reflected in our feelings, thoughts and outlook on life.

Then the creative part of the session began. Using hot glue, participants drew patterns on their mirrors, creating unique designs. Once the glue had hardened, they began painting with stained glass paints - bright colors gradually brought the designs to life and gave each piece its own special look.

Every mirror turned out differently, as each participant brought their own vision, mood and a part of their personal story to the work. The creative process offered a chance to relive pleasant summer moments and preserve them in an unusual form

They say mirrors remember everything reflected in them. And we believe these mirrors will hold not only their owners' reflections but also the warmest summer memories shared during the gathering.

In this way, the "Wave of Kindness" challenge became another opportunity for our volunteer center to bring people together through creativity, offer inspiration and remind everyone that the most precious treasure box is the one we carry in our hearts.
