A Sweet Rosh Ha-Shanah
Volunteers and community clients prepared jams, pies, and challahs to celebrate Rosh Ha-Shanah together
The month of Elul resounded with the trumpet sound of the shofar — marking the end of the year 5785. And with the beginning of the month of Tishrei, our community launched the annual Good Jam Day, which became a true celebration for all participants.
For Rosh Ha-Shanah — we did not come empty-handed: tables were filled with aromatic Ternopil tea, jars of assorted jams, apple pies, cookies, strudels, and fragrant round challahs. All of these were handmade by the clients and volunteers of our center, each jar of jam, each piece of pastry containing a piece of care, warmth, and sincerity.
The preparation process was filled with joy and collaborative effort — volunteers helped one another, shared recipes and cooking secrets, while community clients enthusiastically participated in every step from washing the fruits to decorating the jars. Each strudel and challah became a symbol of a sweet, bright, and blessed year that we wish for all our guests and beneficiaries.
The celebration took place in an atmosphere of unity and warmth, we exchanged smiles, shared aromatic treat,s and together welcomed Rosh Ha-Shanah among our friendly community. This tradition not only brings us closer but also reminds us that even small gestures of care and attention can give true warmth to the heart.
