An evening of traditions, connection and creativity

Participants of the “Hung Out and Played” project came together to welcome Shabbat and celebrate Tu BiShvat

A warm Shabbat gathering took place among friends from the “Hung Out and Played” project. The participants came together to end the week in an atmosphere of tradition, light and togetherness.

The evening began with welcoming Shabbat: candles were lit, Kiddush was recited, fragrant challahs were tasted and participants became acquainted with the weekly Torah portion. The atmosphere was filled with comfort, sincere conversations and a sense of unity. For many, such gatherings become a special moment of the week – an opportunity to pause, be together and feel the strength of tradition.

After the Shabbat part, the participants continued the evening by celebrating Tu BiShvat – the New Year of Trees. They learned more about the history and traditions of this holiday, its symbolism and significance in Jewish culture. A special part was the symbolic seder with four cups of wine and a variety of fruits traditionally enjoyed on this day.

The evening concluded with a creative workshop. Participants decorated tree-shaped cookies, specially baked for the event by volunteers of the “Shabbat Guest” project. For decoration, they used condensed cocoa and dried fruits, creating truly unique sweet trees. This shared creative activity brought many smiles, a joyful mood and a true sense of celebration.

Such gatherings bring together people of different ages, help deepen understanding of traditions and create a space where new connections, friendships and warm memories are born. Because it is in these shared moments – at the table, in conversations and in creativity – that the feeling of a true community comes to life.
