Art that builds confidence
Volunteers created personalized coloring pages for Day Center participants
As part of the “Sphere of Creativity” project, volunteers from Kryvyi Rih Volunteer Community held a special workshop for visitors of the Day Center. This time, creativity was not just about colors and lines - it was about the people themselves.
The idea behind the activity was both simple and deeply meaningful. Volunteers prepared coloring pages based on photographs of the participants. Every face, every smile, and each individual feature was transformed into line drawings ready to be brought to life with color. In this way, each participant had the opportunity to see themselves in a new light - as a true work of art.
At first, many were surprised. Some carefully examined the sheets and asked: why isn’t this photo colored in? How was this even made?
And then came the realization - it was their own photo, turned into a coloring page. In that moment, smiles appeared, along with genuine excitement and the desire to immediately pick up pencils and paints.
Participants happily began coloring their portraits - boldly, vividly, and with imagination. Each person added colors in their own way, creating a unique story. For many, this became more than just a creative process - it was a moment of self-acceptance, a sense of personal value and uniqueness.
Sometimes, all a person needs is a new perspective on themselves to believe in their own beauty and significance. Through creativity, confidence, warmth, and a simple yet powerful feeling are born: “I matter. I am important.”
This workshop gave participants a wealth of emotions, sincere joy, and a moment of genuine connection with themselves. And for the volunteers, it was another reminder - art holds a special power - it heals, unites, and helps people see their true beauty.
