Care, Creativity and Preserving Memory
Volunteers and teenagers supported animals, held creative activities for children, and helped restore the Jewish cemetery
Good Deeds Day once again brought together volunteers, teenagers, and partner organizations through meaningful initiatives that improve lives, support those in need, and preserve valuable historical heritage.
One of the first initiatives was a visit to a veterinary sterilization centre. Volunteers and teenagers spent time with its animal residents, giving care and attention to the cats while also helping look after the dogs. They walked the animals, cleaned the kennels after winter, and saw firsthand how much care, interaction, and human attention mean to them. It was a meaningful experience for everyone and a reminder that even small acts of kindness can make a real difference.
Another initiative was a creative workshop for children staying at a social and psychological rehabilitation centre. Together with the volunteers, they made colourful photo frames from air-dry clay, explored their imagination, experimented, and brought their ideas to life. These activities not only develop creativity and fine motor skills but also give children the joy of connection, a sense of support, and positive emotions. The brightest outcome of the day was the children's sincere smiles and happy spirits.
An important part of the campaign was also the continuation of the tradition of caring for the Jewish cemetery. Volunteers, staff members, clients of social service organizations, and community representatives joined the initiative. Together, they carried out a large-scale cleanup, cleared graves of overgrown vegetation, and removed the damage caused by bad weather. This work was not only an improvement project but also an important step in preserving historical memory and honouring previous generations.
These initiatives once again showed that acts of kindness can take many forms - caring for animals, supporting children, and preserving the memory of the past. Yet they all share one purpose - making the world a kinder place, bringing people together, and showing the power of compassion. This is how a true culture of volunteering is built.
