Care in Every Jar
Homemade jam, Amosov paste and handmade gifts brought Good Jam Day participants together to share care
Good Jam Day is more than a campaign to collect homemade jam. It is an initiative that reminds us that even a small gesture of attention can bring someone warmth, joy and the feeling of being remembered. This time, Hesed clients, volunteers and craftswomen joined forces to support those who find it difficult to prepare homemade preserves themselves and for whom feeling the community's care is especially important.
At the beginning of the campaign, the first jars of homemade jam appeared at Hesed, inspiring others to join the good cause. Clients brought berries and fruits from their own supplies and made fragrant treats themselves. Those who could not make jam could also take part by simply donating fruit or berries, while volunteers handled the cooking. In this way, ordinary seasonal fruits became sweet gifts made with others in mind.
The homemade jam was intended primarily for Hesed clients with limited mobility who can no longer prepare preserves themselves. For them, such a jar is more than a sweet treat with tea - it is a reminder of human connection, generosity and support. After all, sometimes the simplest things become the most precious when someone has put their time and care into them.
Volunteers also joined Good Jam Day by preparing Amosov paste for Hesed clients. This nutritious treat became another way to show attention and support. What mattered in this initiative was not grand words but practical actions: preparing, sharing, delivering and giving someone a pleasant moment.
Handmade items from the "Magic Stem" project became a special addition to the gifts. Hesed clients with limited mobility and project participants received tote bags, aprons and cozy cushions made by craftswomen. Each item carried a touch of creativity and warmth, while the gifts themselves became a pleasant surprise and another sign of care for the recipients.
Good Jam Day brought together different expressions of kindness: homemade preserves, nutritious treats and handmade items. Everyone contributed in whatever way they could, and together these contributions became a major effort to support others. After all, volunteering is not only about helping in difficult circumstances but also about noticing the needs of others and finding simple ways to make their day better.
We thank all Hesed clients, volunteers and craftswomen from the "Magic Stem" project who joined the initiative. Thanks to you, homemade jam, Amosov paste and handmade gifts became symbols of attention and care. May every good deed remind us that sometimes sharing what we have is enough to bring someone warmth.
