Challahs for the Community
Our volunteers organized a culinary masterclass on baking Shabbat challahs—a symbol of unity.
Shabbat is one of the cornerstone traditions of Jewish culture, and challah is an essential part of it. This time, the volunteers of the Lviv Volunteer Center became guides to tradition for the younger generation by organizing a challah-baking masterclass for AJT Neurim Junior teens. Held as part of the VolunTEENS project, the event brought together those eager to explore the art of traditional Jewish baking.
The participants enthusiastically mixed ingredients and kneaded dough, then creatively braided the challahs, showcasing their imagination and artistic flair. For many teens, it was their first experience baking bread, making the process an eye-opening journey. Above all, the masterclass instilled in every participant a deep sense of unity and connection with Jewish traditions lovingly passed down through generations.
The freshly baked challahs were carefully packaged and delivered to the beneficiaries of the Hesed Aryeh Charity Foundation. Gracing Shabbat tables, they became symbols of care, attention, and the unbreakable bond between generations and Jewish heritage.
The teens eagerly shared their impressions, noting that they felt part of a meaningful mission to preserve traditions while offering support to those in need.
We are grateful to our volunteers for this wonderful masterclass! Through your example, you inspire the younger generation, ensuring a bright future filled with care, connection, and cultural preservation.
