Cleaning Action at the Jewish Cemetery
Participation in such actions contributes to strengthening our community and enhancing its social cohesion.
Volunteers from the Poltava Center organized a cleaning action at the Jewish cemetery. More than 20 people took part in the event, for whom preserving the memory of our ancestors is more than just words. Together, they restored order at the gravesites and cleaned up the cemetery grounds.
This annual event holds significant symbolic value. By maintaining order at the graves of our grandparents and great-grandparents, we ensure a strong connection between generations, as each grave is a part of history. It shares with us the story of a specific person, telling us about their life and achievements.
Each time we visit the cemetery, we have the opportunity to touch real history and contemplate the eternal. Such moments are especially important for the younger generation. By teaching respect for their ancestors and their own history, we can expect the development of a healthy and strong society.
Volunteers worked together diligently, and before long, the graves took on a well-tended appearance. The work was accompanied by pleasant conversations and interesting discussions, many of which touched upon topics we rarely ponder in our daily lives. The surroundings and old graves became teachers of sorts, prompting contemplation of the eternal.
We thank the volunteers who responded to this initiative. You have made a significant contribution to preserving our collective memory. We urge everyone to join in the important task of cleaning our cemeteries - it is the least we can do as a tribute to our ancestors!
Let us all keep the memory of our ancestors, uphold traditions, and preserve the heritage of our people!
