Drops of Kindness

For World Blood Donor Day, volunteers gathered to share personal stories and remember their first donations

Sometimes, a single drop can change someone's life. It was around these drops of kindness, care and responsibility that volunteers gathered at the Rivne branch of Hesed Besht for World Blood Donor Day. In a warm atmosphere, people came together for whom blood donation has long ceased to be a one-time act and has become part of their philosophy of life.

Different stories were shared around the festive table. Some recalled their first donation and the anxiety before it, others shared funny moments, while some spoke about realizing that their blood may have saved someone's life. And all these stories had something in common - a willingness to give a part of themselves for another person.

The words of one volunteer were especially moving. She said that when a person shares their blood, they give the world not only several hundred milliliters of blood, but also a part of the kindness, warmth and light they carry within. This is how true help is born - quiet, unnoticed, but priceless.

It was symbolic that the youngest participant at the gathering was there alongside experienced donors. Watching his mother and listening to the adults, he confidently announced that he would become a donor too when he grew up. At that moment, one thing became clear: kindness has an amazing ability to pass from person to person, from generation to generation.

Surrounded by red and white, smiles, hugs, words of gratitude and small tokens of recognition, the participants welcomed Shabbat together. But the most valuable part of the day was something else - the feeling of unity and being part of something important.

For the Jewish community, mutual responsibility has always been one of its most important values. Blood donation is a special expression of this - helping someone you may never meet, but whose life may depend on your decision.

We are proud that so many RVC volunteers are ready to make this contribution regularly. By their example, they not only save lives, but also strengthen our community, inspire others to do good deeds and prove that the true strength of a community is born when people are ready to share what is most precious.

We thank every donor. Your drops of blood become drops of hope, strength and life for someone else.
