Elul: A Time for Inner Harmony

At the Day Center, Hesed clients discussed the month of Elul, created mandalas and enjoyed delicious treats

Elul is a special time to slow down, look back on the journey so far, remember important moments and listen to our hearts. It is a period of reflection, inner change and preparation for the new year. This was the theme of another gathering at the Day Center, where volunteers and Hesed clients spent time together in a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

During the gathering, participants talked about the month of Elul, recalled important events in their lives, shared their thoughts and reflected on what they would like to leave behind and what they wanted to take into the new year. These conversations offered a chance to pause amid everyday worries, pay attention to their feelings and recognize how much value lies in personal memories and life experiences.

A special part of the gathering was the creative activity of making mandalas. Participants designed their own patterns, chose colors and expressed a part of their inner world through their drawings. The mandala became a symbol of harmony, wholeness and each person's uniqueness. After all, just like these patterns, each of us has a special path, our own dreams, experiences and aspirations.

At the end of the creative session, each participant received a wooden mandala puzzle as a small activity to complete at home. They could put it together in the comfort of their homes, taking time to reflect on themselves, their wishes and dreams. This creative practice offered an opportunity to continue the reflections after the gathering and enjoy a few more moments of peace and concentration.

And what would a Day Center gathering be without delicious treats? This time, participants enjoyed fragrant baked apples and a healthy smoothie. The treats added a cozy, homely feeling to the gathering, while sharing food offered another chance to chat, exchange impressions and enjoy each other's company.

Gatherings like these are valuable not only for their interesting activities but also for the opportunity to be heard, feel supported and spend time with people who care. They help create a space for sincere conversations, creativity, warmth and kindness.

We sincerely thank our volunteers for their attention, kindness, heartfelt warmth and delicious treats shared with the participants. Thanks to gatherings like these, the month of Elul became another opportunity to pause, listen to ourselves and enter the new year with gratitude, positive thoughts and open hearts.
