From first attempts to impressive results
Our volunteers are opening a new chapter of creativity — a series of workshops on furniture restoration
A new initiative has started at the volunteer center — a series of workshops on Furniture Restoration, initiated by the volunteers themselves. The idea was simple: everyone occasionally faces the need to “refresh” furniture at home or in a community space, so they decided to learn how to do it together — both usefully and enjoyably.

The first session focused on Preparing Furniture for Restoration. Participants learned different methods for removing old upholstery, prepared chairs for reupholstering, and immediately practiced their skills hands-on. The emotions ran high when they restored their first chair with their own hands! It was a small but real victory, giving the feeling that anything is possible.

In the second session, volunteers moved on to a more creative topic — Reupholstering Furniture with Various Materials. Imagination had no limits: participants combined fabrics of different textures, experimented with colors, and learned the specific techniques required for each material. As a result, five more chairs were restored — four received bright, creative designs, while two were made more restrained and classic. It was decided that the “creative” chairs will now be used for special occasions, such as birthdays and similar events.

The session was so engaging that volunteers worked for over four hours straight, using all the materials. This proves that the process is not only practical but also incredibly inspiring.

Furniture restoration at our center is not just about practical skills. It is teamwork, creativity, shared joy, and small victories. We have taken the first steps, and many discoveries lie ahead. More to come!
