Good Deeds Week
Volunteers supported children, created gifts for community members, and shared warmth with those who needed it most
Good Deeds Week Ukraine became a time of meaningful gatherings, creative initiatives, and acts of kindness for volunteers. Over several days, they joined forces to support those in need and inspire others to take part in doing good.
The week began with a large charity event combining a fundraising fair and a creative community gathering. Participants brought clothing, toys, jewellery, board games, and other items that could be purchased for a symbolic donation. All funds raised were donated to an animal shelter. At the same time, volunteers prepared gifts for children, military personnel, and Hesed clients by decorating gingerbread cookies, making beeswax candles, and writing greeting cards with warm wishes. The evening concluded with a heartfelt gathering filled with music, poetry, and creative performances.
A special part of the program was the volunteer Shabbat, Workshop of Kindness. After the traditional Shabbat gathering, participants took part in an unusual activity - recycling old soap. The prepared materials will be used to create new scented bars of soap, which will later be donated to military personnel. This initiative combined environmental care with support for those defending the country.
Supporting animals was another important part of the week. Thanks to the charity fair, volunteers raised funds to purchase food and essential medicines for dogs and cats living in the shelter. They personally delivered the donations and spent time with the animals, giving them care and attention.
As part of Good Deeds Week, volunteers also delivered special Shabbat packages to Hesed clients. Along with the traditional Shabbat sets, they included handmade candles created during the charity event. Each candle became a small symbol of warmth and care, connecting people through acts of kindness.
Another meaningful event was a visit to children from internally displaced families. Volunteers brought gifts, toys, and hand-decorated gingerbread cookies, and also held a fun slime-making workshop. Shared creativity, laughter, and joy became the best proof that even a small act of kindness can give a child unforgettable memories.
Good Deeds Week once again proved that kindness begins with the desire to help. And every good deed, no matter its size, always reaches someone who truly needs it.
