Good Deeds Week in Action
Volunteers held a series of gatherings for children, Hesed clients, and concluded the week with a creative workshop
Good Deeds Week in our community was full of warmth, meaningful moments, and genuine connection. Each day was dedicated to simple yet important things - communication, support, care, and time spent together.
The week began with a gathering for Hesed clients. Together with the "golden age" group, volunteers spent time playing board games, including Carcassonne and Simino. Participants eagerly joined the games, talked, laughed, and shared joyful moments. The atmosphere was so lively and welcoming that many expressed a wish to continue these gatherings in the future.
During the week, volunteers also organized a special Shabbat for Hesed clients. It was an evening filled with traditions, songs, and a true sense of togetherness. Participants sang familiar melodies, learned new ones, and created a warm atmosphere of community. After Shabbat, they took part in a quiz dedicated to Israel Independence Day, adding a fun and engaging element that brought everyone even closer together.
Caring for animals was another important part of the week. Volunteers visited the Little Prince Cat Rehabilitation Centre, where they held a photo session for the cats and gave them care and attention. Every photo became a small step toward helping the cats find loving new homes.
Another meaningful event was a visit to the Jewish cemetery in Kharkiv. Together with representatives of different organizations, volunteers helped clean the grounds to preserve the memory of the generations who lived and built this city. Their work became a sign of respect for history and responsibility toward the future
Good Deeds Week concluded with a creative workshop for children from the Hesed program. The young participants created papier-mâché artwork, expressing their imagination and emotions. The room was filled with laughter, colours, and sincere joy.
This week once again proved that good deeds are not a single event, but an ongoing journey that brings people together, creates shared memories, and leaves behind warmth that lasts far beyond the events themselves.
