Handcraft "Magic"
Volunteers immersed participants of the Day Center in the world of handicrafts, teaching them the technique of "kumihimo" braiding.
Volunteers from our center in Konotop organized an engaging masterclass for elderly participants of the "Day Center" program, where attendees learned the ancient Japanese art of "kumihimo" braiding. Despite the upcoming challenges of mastering a new skill, the beneficiaries of Hesed enthusiastically participated in the event.
The female volunteers from the "Creative Chaos" project explained the intricacies of the "kumihimo" technique, after which the attendees proceeded to practice. Using the provided materials, participants of the masterclass created genuine handicraft masterpieces, showcasing their creative abilities and boundless imagination. Among the crafted braids, there wasn't a single one that resembled another!
Handicrafts are indeed a form of magic, as the event's guests discovered. Firstly, such activities help relieve tension and combat stress. Equally important is the impact that such "art therapy" has on people of the "golden age." Developing fine motor skills contributes to improving cognitive abilities and positively affects overall psychological well-being.
We express our gratitude to the volunteers for their creative approach in striving to improve the lives of elderly members of our community. Thanks to your care and support, the Day Center has become a place where everyone, regardless of age, can unleash their potential and enjoy creativity!
