Holiday light on canvas

In the warm atmosphere of the art studio, participants of the “Chag Sameach” project gathered once again to celebrate the holiday together

The holiday of Lag BaOmer is not only about traditions, songs, and bonfires. It is deeper: a celebration of hope, an inner fire that never goes out, even in the darkest times. It was with this spirit that another warm gathering took place in our community’s art studio as part of the “Chag Sameach” project.

This time, the focus was on art-not professional or exhibition-level, but deep, sincere, and created from the heart. Elder members of our Jewish community came together to express on paper what words cannot always convey. For them, painting is more than just an activity - it is a way to feel needed, to know that their thoughts, feelings, and stories matter.

The project volunteers took care of everything: preparing materials, creating a cozy space, and fostering a gentle, welcoming atmosphere where everyone felt at home. The theme of the session Lag BaOmer inspired warm, symbolic images. Canvases shone with bonfires as symbols of inner strength, hands holding each other as signs of generational unity, and landscapes of childhood where Jewish songs once echoed or festive fires burned bright.

During the gathering, memories surfaced. Each painting was like a small window into a personal story. Between brushstrokes were smiles, focused silence, and at times, tears of gratitude.

These moments are more than leisure. They are social support. They are a sense of belonging. They are times when hearts touch one another. Volunteers once again realized: sometimes it is enough simply to be there, to offer support, to hand over a brush, and the world becomes brighter.

The “Chag Sameach” project has long transcended the holiday calendar. It is a story about how love, attention, and kind words create something great: care for a dignified life for every member of our community.

We thank everyone who joined us that day. The light we create together does not fade - it lives in our hearts.
