Holiday Marathon
As part of the All-Ukrainian "Hanukkah Marathon," volunteers organized a series of interesting events.
The "Hanukkah Marathon" in Kryvyi Rih provided an excellent opportunity to explore the traditions and values associated with the Hanukkah holiday. From December 7 to 14, volunteers from the Kryvyi Rih Volunteer Community of the Hesed Hanna Charitable Foundation / Jewish Community Center "Beit Graham" conducted a series of creative and educational activities.
Master classes on quilling, where participants crafted their own Hanukkias, generated great interest. This work requires precision and contributes to the development of fine motor skills, but most importantly, its result helps bring the miracle of Hanukkah closer.
Participants in the "Autumn Basket" action from the "Charity Box" project demonstrated great originality by preparing pumpkin candies in the shape of Hanukkah candles. These delicious gifts were handed over to children from low-income families and participants in the "ClubOK" project.
Volunteers also prepared an entertainment program for children from low-income families. The little ones played fun "tic-tac-toe" with Dreidel and Hanukkia, and then joyfully decorated donuts. Volunteers told the children about Hanukkah traditions, and at the end, pumpkin treats awaited everyone.
The volunteers did not forget about the elderly people with limited physical abilities. Throughout the Marathon week, together with our volunteers, they were able to light Hanukkah candles at home, joining a united action of light, goodness, and love. This gesture of support shows that joint efforts can lead to a better future for everyone.
It's worth noting the acting talent of our volunteers, who transformed into "winter helpers" in a play prepared for the little ones dedicated to Hanukkah. They then danced a vibrant candle dance at the opening of the community holiday of lighting the eighth candle. Bright and unforgettable moments of the holiday could be captured during the charity event "Hanukkah Time in Focus" by taking an instant photo with a Polaroid.
Thanks to our volunteers, the "Hanukkah Marathon" left warm and joyful memories, and we all look forward to the next marathon.
