Volunteers from the League of Jewish Volunteering conduct classes for groups at the Hesed Day Center
Every week, volunteers from the League of Jewish Volunteering gift participants of the Hesed Day Center in Odesa not only new knowledge but also the warmth of companionship and a sense of belonging to the community.

At these gatherings, participants explore Jewish traditions and holidays, learn about healthy lifestyles, and gain practical life skills. A key part of the sessions is intergenerational exchange - meaningful dialogue between younger and older members that enriches both groups.

The recent gathering focused on the Jewish woman as the guardian of home and traditions in Judaism. Volunteers discussed the important commandments observed by Jewish women, their role in family and society, and participants explored the significance of family traditions passed through generations and their relevance in the modern world.

A particularly engaging part of the session was the hands-on body-oriented therapy workshop. A volunteer-certified therapist introduced attendees to Su Jok therapy principles - a technique that improves physical and psychological well-being by stimulating biologically active points on the hands. Participants not only learned about this approach but also experienced its effectiveness firsthand. As the specialist noted:
"The Su Jok therapy principles introduced to Hesed clients can serve as a practical tool for stabilizing emotional states amid instability and crisis-induced stress."
These gatherings demonstrate how knowledge, support, and interaction can enhance quality of life, even in challenging times. Thanks to the League of Jewish Volunteering volunteers for their dedication and heartfelt commitment!
