Kindness Begins with Us

As part of Good Deeds Day, teenagers and volunteers came together to help others, offer support, and share warmth

During the international Good Deeds Day campaign, volunteers and teenagers from the community once again showed that acts of kindness begin with simple steps and a sincere desire to help others.

One of the initiatives was a meeting between members of the JeWay teen club and the Volunteer Centre coordinator. They spoke about the importance of volunteering, the impact of kind actions, and the many ways young people can become active members of their community. Most importantly, the conversation quickly turned into action. After the meeting, the teenagers helped clean the foundation's courtyard, showing that real change begins with personal responsibility and a willingness to act.

Members of the AJT club also joined the campaign alongside the Volunteer Centre team. Since Hesed has become a second home for many, they decided to care for the area around it. Working together, they cleaned the courtyard, cleared away branches and pine needles left after seasonal maintenance, and made the space more welcoming. Their teamwork was another reminder of how much can be achieved when people come together.

Supporting older adults was another meaningful part of the campaign. One of the centre's volunteers took the initiative to prepare refreshments and set the table for a gathering of golden age group clients. For many of them, these meetings are not only an opportunity to socialize but also a chance to feel the care, attention, and support of their community.

Another touching moment was a visit by volunteers and AJT teenagers to a Hesed client whose family had endured the challenges of forced displacement. They arrived with homemade treats, warm words, and a heartfelt desire to brighten her day. Visits like these remind us that even small acts of kindness can bring hope, strength, and comfort to people facing difficult circumstances.

Good Deeds Day once again showed that kindness is not measured by its scale. It lives in every kind word, every hour of service, and every act carried out with a sincere heart. It is through these small acts that strong, caring, and united communities are built.
