Kindness That Brings People Together
As part of GDD, volunteers held an eco initiative, brought joy to children, and helped restore the community building
The Good Deeds Day campaign once again united TDU volunteers around kindness, care for others, and responsibility for the world around us. This year, volunteers carried out several meaningful initiatives, each reflecting compassion and unity.
One initiative focused on cleaning part of Khortytsia Island, a favourite recreation area for the people of Zaporizhzhia. Unfortunately, natural spaces are often left littered after visitors leave. Volunteers cleared the area of rubbish, making it cleaner and more welcoming for everyone. Such initiatives not only help protect the environment but also encourage ecological awareness and responsible care for nature.
The volunteers also devoted special attention to the youngest members of the community. A colourful entertainment program was organized for children, featuring a soft play maze, bright ball pits, and cheerful mascot characters. The children eagerly joined the activities, played together, and enjoyed moments filled with genuine happiness. The celebration brought joy to the children and gave parents the priceless gift of seeing their smiles.
This year's Good Deeds Day took on even deeper meaning. During another attack on Zaporizhzhia, drone debris damaged the Max Grant Building, a place where many community programs and gatherings are held. The very next day, volunteers came together to help deal with the aftermath. People arrived without being asked or invited - simply because they could not stand aside.
That day, there were no separate programs or departments - everyone became one team. Volunteers cleared debris, cleaned the building, supported one another, and helped restore the space. One volunteer expressed the spirit of the day perfectly: "I am ready to do anything I can for our home." Moments like these reveal the true strength of a community and the value of standing together.
Good Deeds Day once again proved that acts of kindness come in many forms - from caring for nature and creating joyful moments for children to helping in times of hardship. Yet they all share one purpose - making the world around us better, supporting those beside us, and reminding us that together we can overcome any challenge.
