Kindness That Unites

The Day of Good Deeds brought volunteers together around care, creativity, and support for others

As part of the international initiatives J-Serve and the Day of Good Deeds, a series of diverse volunteer activities took place in the community, once again proving that kindness can take many forms, but its greatest strength lies in sincere care for others.

Teenagers prepared healthy sweets for homebound Hesed beneficiaries with their own hands. Only natural ingredients were used - dried fruits, nuts, and cocoa. Each sweet was carefully wrapped, with the young volunteers putting not only healthy treats but also a part of their warmth into every gift. For the teenagers, this gathering became an opportunity to feel responsibility for their community and understand that even a small act can bring joy to someone else.

A special event was held at the Shalom confectionery, which for one day transformed into a space of professional opportunities and inclusion. Young people with disabilities took on the role of baristas. Guests were able to enjoy aromatic coffee and support the young masters, while for the participants themselves, it became an important experience of self-realization, an opportunity to believe in their own abilities, and to feel part of a greater common cause.

Acts of kindness continued through warm home visits. VolunTeens participants visited a Hesed beneficiary, welcomed Shabbat together, sang piyyutim, talked, and shared stories. This meeting once again reminded everyone that the greatest gift is often attention, a sincere conversation, and the feeling that you are not alone.

Another important event was the volunteers' visit to the Khmelnytskyi City Center "School of Life." Together with its students, they held a sweet, creative workshop decorating cookies with colorful icing, danced, played games, and simply spent time together. The most valuable result was not the bright patterns on the cookies, but the children's smiles, sincere emotions, and the feeling of acceptance and care.

Each of these initiatives was different in format, but identical in meaning. Because the Day of Good Deeds is about the ability to notice those around us, find opportunities to support, give attention, create reasons to smile, and remind everyone that kindness does not require special conditions - it begins with an open heart and a willingness to act.
