Knowledge that grows into kindness
Volunteers of BEIT DAN Volunteer Platform held a workshop on the benefits of microgreens for elderly community members
On the eve of Tu BiShvat - a symbol of nature’s renewal and growth - volunteers of BEIT DAN Volunteer Platform organized a warm and informative meeting for elderly members of the community. A workshop dedicated to the benefits of microgreens and the specifics of growing them became a wonderful occasion for communication.
During the meeting, the volunteers delivered an engaging lecture, speaking about different types of microgreens, their nutritional properties, and health benefits. Participants learned which crops are best suited for growing at home, how to properly prepare soil and seeds, and how to care for young sprouts.
The most engaging part was the practical session - each participant had the opportunity to plant microgreens with their own hands. For many, this became not only a new experience but also a symbolic act that resonates deeply in the context of Tu BiShvat - a time when we reflect on the connection between people and nature and the importance of caring for the earth.
The meeting took place in a warm and friendly atmosphere. Participants actively communicated, shared their own experiences of growing plants, asked questions, and enthusiastically discussed new ideas.
Warm conversations, exchange of experience, quality time together, and delicious treats made this day truly special. And the small microgreen sprouts planted during the workshop will become a symbol of life, care, and kindness that continues to grow within our community.
