Lecture Series on Pre-Medical Care
In challenging times, the most important thing is to stay calm and informed.
The Konotop Volunteer Community has launched a series of lectures on pre-medical care, organized with the assistance of a speaker who is a surgeon. The course is designed for community members, as well as home care workers and volunteers. During the first session, attendees were able to learn essential skills for providing first aid in extreme situations.
The session focused on the basics of pre-medical care. An experienced doctor-speaker emphasized critical aspects such as assessing the condition of the injured person, determining the necessary immediate actions for different types of injuries, and providing first aid for bleeding, fractures, and burns.
During the first meeting, participants covered theory and then moved on to practical exercises: learning how to apply bandages, perform CPR on a mannequin, and use improvised items to provide assistance until medical professionals arrive.
According to some estimates, if even 10% of the population learns these valuable pre-medical care skills, the death rate among injured individuals could decrease significantly! Therefore, the knowledge participants gain in these sessions is crucial and practical, especially given the challenging conditions where anyone could become a casualty of armed conflicts, making timely assistance literally life-saving.
A significant portion of the session was dedicated to psychological support for the injured. Providing pre-medical care also involves the ability to calm, alleviate psychological shock, and motivate individuals to take correct actions. Alongside medical skills, the ability to provide rapid psychological assistance proves incredibly valuable.
The lecture series has just begun, and participants can look forward to more valuable information and medical skills that will enable them to provide real assistance in difficult situations. We thank the volunteers for organizing this crucial lecture series and the attendees for their commitment to bringing tangible help to society!
