Let Every Child Be Happy
International Children's Day for patients of the Regional Oncology and Hematology Center and the NGO "We Are Together"
On May 28th, volunteers from our center celebrated International Children's Day with the young patients of the Regional Oncology and Hematology Center, as well as those under the care of the NGO "We Are Together" and the Korosten-Shevchenkivsky Educational Rehabilitation Center "Nadiya."
For many years, volunteers from the Volunteer Community of the Cherkasy Regional Charitable Jewish Fund "Hesed Dorot" have been supporting the Regional Oncology and Hematology Center, and they have been interacting with the children under the care of "We Are Together" for nearly two years now. Not surprisingly, in anticipation of the holiday, the volunteers decided to do something particularly special for their wards.
First, the volunteers visited the Regional Oncology and Hematology Center, where they presented the little patients with wonderful gifts - bright and cheerful toys handmade by the "Yarn of Kindness" project. The children enthusiastically received the gifts, their faces lighting up with smiles. We are certain that such pleasant moments have a tremendously positive impact on the state of the young patients. That's why we always seek opportunities to evoke positive emotions in children: we organize engaging masterclasses, lively dances, and sing songs. On City Day, we even presented the first edition of a magical fairy tale, created by the little storytellers under the guidance of our steadfast friend and psychologist from the department!
After the pandemic, which forced us to interrupt personal interactions and limit ourselves to gifts and treats, we were delighted to return to our duties and resume our visits. Each child received a wonderful gift with wishes for a speedy recovery and all the best ahead. In the eyes of the children, we saw joy, and we are confident that we will ignite these bright sparks again during future visits!
After the Regional Oncology and Hematology Center, the volunteers visited the children under the care of "We Are Together," with whom they first bonded on Children's Day in 2022. Since then, we have organized various activities for the children: body art, games, dances, and of course, we have given sweet gifts and toys. This time, too, no one was left without a gift, and as a token of gratitude, the volunteers received smiles and cheerful laughter.
The children of the Korosten-Shevchenkivsky Educational Rehabilitation Center "Nadiya" also received gifts in honor of the holiday, as we were unable to visit them in person. We are confident that our gifts warmed the hearts and souls of the children and lifted their spirits on the eve of this wonderful holiday!
We thank our volunteers for their desire to make children's lives happier and more joyful, despite the challenging circumstances they find themselves in. We are certain that your attention and care turned Children's Day into a true celebration for them!
