Light that changes the world

Sometimes good deeds begin very quietly – with an idea, with a caring heart, with the desire to bring light

That is exactly what happened this time, when volunteers from the Halom Volunteer Center visited students in grades 2–4 at a school with inclusive education for children with hearing and speech impairments. They didn’t just come with gifts – they brought joy, attention, and a warm atmosphere that stays with you long after.

Five volunteers organized a creative workshop, where they made magical nightlights together with the children. These lamps are more than room decorations – they became true symbols of care. Each child decorated their nightlight independently, chose colors, created a unique design, and put their heart into it. And each of these 21 nightlights shines like a warm little ray in the evening darkness.

Even brighter, however, were the children’s eyes – shining from attention, interaction, and the feeling that they matter, that their efforts are valued, and that there are people who came just for them. For some, this day was their first experience with such open creativity; for others, it was a new step toward self-expression. All of this was made possible thanks to the support, sincerity, and professionalism of our volunteers.

The Halom Volunteer Center continues to create small miracles in everyday realities. In every event, we see how a small action can change not just a mood, but the inner world of a person – a child, a teenager, or an adult. It is more than just an event. It is about true connection, togetherness, and a shared future

We thank our wonderful volunteers for their hearts full of light, and for sharing it without expecting anything in return. And we thank the children for their openness and for the inspiration we gain from you. Thanks to these meetings, we all become a little kinder and a little brighter.
