Little Sukkahs, Great Warmth
Ahead of Sukkot, children and volunteers created autumn leaf art and explored the holiday's traditions
Ahead of Sukkot, our volunteers visited Hesed's children's program to hold a creative workshop together and experience the atmosphere of one of the warmest Jewish holidays. This time, participants made their own little sukkahs using real leaves, flowers and, of course, endless imagination!
The gathering took the volunteers on a nostalgic journey back to childhood, when we enthusiastically made autumn leaf art with glue and natural materials in kindergarten. Such simple creative activities bring back pleasant memories and remind us how much joy can be found in little things.
Every child had their own vision, so no two creations were alike. Some were bright and colorful, others delicate and simple, but each had its own character and special beauty. That is the magic of creating together: it leaves room for imagination and allows everyone to express themselves..
The workshop was not only creative but also educational. As they worked, participants learned more about Sukkot, its meaning and traditions, as well as the holiday's symbols - the sukkah and its traditional items. In this way, discovering Jewish culture became easy, engaging and based on personal experience.
Of course, there was plenty of laughter, conversations about favorite games, shared ideas and genuine interaction. After all, these gatherings are valuable not only for what participants create but also for the chance to spend time together, get to know one another better and make warm memories.
Sukkot reminds us of hospitality, unity, gratitude and the joy we find in the company of loved ones. That day, we brought these values to life through small creative projects and heartfelt emotions.
May every sukkah have room for a guest, every gathering for a smile, and every heart for warmth and kindness. Chag Sukkot Sameach!
