Master-class for Shavuot
As part of the Hand to Hand project, volunteers prepared and hosted an online master class on growing microgreens
Since Shavuot is not only a holiday of giving the Torah, but also a harvest holiday, Dnipro Volunteer Community volunteers decided to hold a master class related to this particular side of the holiday.
Volunteers prepared special kits for growing microgreens - the now popular "windowsill garden". Each of them included the seeds of five plant species and all the necessary accessories for the microgreen to germinate and please the eyes with its appearance, and subsequently the whole body with vitamins. Volunteers delivered such kits to ten participants specifically - these are people of the "golden" age and people with disabilities who can only join online.
The online meeting itself was attended not only by the participants, but also by the audience, who were interested in hearing about growing microgreens. After talking about the traditions of the Shavuot holiday, the volunteers talked about the features of choosing seeds, the process of growing and caring for microgreens. They shared helpful tips and time-lapse of how plants grow. The participants of the master class asked questions and actively discussed their own experience of growing seedlings on the windowsill.
Such workshops have become a tradition for DVC volunteers who are constantly working to organize such events. For they not only provide useful knowledge and skills, but also contribute to communication and exchange of experience between different generations of society.
