Our Sweet Care
As part of GJD, volunteers made apple jam and prepared food packages for Hesed clients
Good Jam Day took place in a warm atmosphere of good deeds, teamwork and care for others. Our Kyiv Volunteer Community Hillel volunteers came together to prepare thoughtful gifts for grandmas and grandpas and help families ahead of an important period of Jewish holidays. After all, this is a time when people especially want to share kindness, show care and remind everyone that they are not alone.
The main activity of the gathering was making homemade apple jam. Volunteers cooked the fragrant treat themselves, then poured it into jars and carefully decorated them. Thanks to their creative approach, each jar became a special gift, combining the warmth of home, personal effort and a sincere desire to bring joy to people dear to their hearts.
Special attention was given to preparing gifts for grandmas and grandpas. The decorated jars of apple jam were meant to be more than just sweet treats - they were symbols of love, respect and gratitude. Such small but heartfelt gifts help maintain connections between generations and bring a festive feeling even to ordinary days.
Another good deed that day was preparing large food packages for families in need of support. Volunteers gathered essential groceries to help families prepare for the holidays and make this period a little less stressful. After all, care is not just about kind words, but also practical actions that help people feel the attention and support of their community.
The period from Rosh Hashanah to Yom Kippur holds special meaning in Jewish tradition. It is a time for reflection, reconsidering one's actions, good deeds and spiritual renewal. That is why it is so important for every family to welcome the holidays in an atmosphere of warmth, hope and joy. Initiatives like Good Jam Day help bring these values to life by uniting people through care for one another.
We sincerely thank all the volunteers who joined this sweet and meaningful initiative! Your hard work, compassion and willingness to help make the community stronger and the holidays brighter. May the new year 5787 bring every family happiness, prosperity, good health and as many reasons to celebrate as possible. May it be truly sweet!
Shanah Tovah Umetukah! May the new year be good and sweet for everyone!
