Project "Shabbat in every home"
Every Shabbat is a time filled with spiritual harmony, family traditions and communication.
Every Shabbat is a time filled with spiritual harmony, family traditions, and fellowship. It brings joy and tranquility to the hearts, and for the volunteers and members of the JVP Kharkov Jewish Volunteer Platform community, this day has become special thanks to the "Shabbat in Every Home" project.
The project's goal is to organize and celebrate Shabbat for volunteers and elderly members of the community. As part of this initiative, volunteers come together to bake fragrant challah bread and host a model Shabbat at the homes of elderly beneficiaries. This event brings participants together and creates an indescribable atmosphere of understanding and mutual support.
On the eve of Shabbat, participants from the JVP Kharkov Volunteer Center gathered once again for this important event. The main objective was to bake challah, which is an integral part of Shabbat tradition. New volunteers joined this wonderful event, and some of them dared to bake this special bread for the first time.
The process of making challah was not only fascinating but also extremely informative. Participants shared their experiences and knowledge, teaching each other how to make challah a true work of art. The kitchen was filled with an atmosphere of cooperation and joy.
While the challah was baking in the oven, the volunteers organized a small game with the children and conducted a quiz about Shabbat and its traditions. It was a chance for everyone present to learn more about the significance of challah on the Shabbat table and the meaning of this special day.
However, the most important aspect was the warmth, friendly attention, and respect that prevailed on that day. All participants showed care for the elderly beneficiaries, creating a special atmosphere and making their day unforgettable.
This event not only strengthens the bonds between volunteers and elderly community members but also brings joy and hope to the hearts of many. We express immense gratitude to everyone who participated in this day. Thanks to your efforts, Shabbat became brighter and warmer for many people.
