Remembrance, Support and Care
As part of Good Deeds Day Ukraine, volunteers, young people, and partners carried out a series of meaningful initiatives
As part of the international Good Deeds Day Ukraine campaign, Odesa hosted a series of meaningful initiatives that brought together young people, volunteers, students, athletes, and caring residents around one shared goal - to help, support, and make the world a better place.
One of the key events was an educational program marking the Day of Remembrance of the Holocaust and Heroism for students of ORT Odesa Lyceum No. 94. Participants visited the Territory of Memory Genocide Museum, where they explored the Stories Within History exhibition dedicated to rabbis who survived the Holocaust. The students watched a thematic video, heard real-life stories, and joined an interactive tour that encouraged a deeper understanding of these historic events and their relevance today.
Another important initiative was a blood donation drive organized together with Ushynsky University through DonorUA. The event brought together both experienced donors and those donating for the first time. Once again, participants showed that blood donation is one of the most powerful ways to save lives and support people in need.
A special place among the week's initiatives belonged to a visit to the Territory of Kindness Animal Adoption Centre. Volunteers spent time with the dogs, walked them, played with them, and gave them care and attention. For animals waiting to find a new family, these visits are especially valuable, helping them socialize and experience human warmth.
As part of the campaign, young people and local athletes also joined efforts to improve the sports ground in Starobazarnyi Square. Together, they prepared the area for a new season of training and sporting events, making it more comfortable and welcoming for the city's residents.
Each of these initiatives shows that acts of kindness can take many forms, yet all share the same purpose - supporting people, preserving memory, caring for animals, and strengthening the community. These actions inspire others and remind us that we can make the world a better place every day.
