Roots and the Future
Tu BiShvat was celebrated at Hesed, bringing children and adults together around family stories and creativity
Tu BiShvat at Hesed was celebrated in a special and warmly family atmosphere. Despite the winter frost outside, the center was filled with smiles, lively communication, and a sense of unity. Children from the Sunday School, as well as participants of the Teen Club and Parent Club, joined the celebration.
Tu BiShvat, known as the New Year of the Trees, reminds us of important values in life. It is no coincidence that the Torah says: "For man is like a tree in the field." Just as a tree has roots, a trunk, and fruits, a person has a past, present, and future, relies on family traditions, and grows through experience and the support of loved ones.
The festive activities were dedicated precisely to this symbolism. Participants created family trees, writing the names of relatives and loved ones on them. This creative activity became an opportunity to reflect on their roots, remember those who are an important part of family history, and feel the unbreakable connection between generations.
Members of the Parent Club recalled family stories, shared memories, and looked through family photographs. These sincere conversations transformed the celebration into a true meeting of generations, where everyone could feel the value of their family and the importance of preserving the memory of loved ones.
The celebration was not without creative surprises. Instead of the traditional tree planting, participants created unusual fruit trees, which became not only a symbol of the holiday, but also a delicious treat for everyone present.
The celebration continued with another beautiful tradition. The following day, volunteers planted flowers in pots, which will certainly bloom in spring, becoming a living reminder that every growth begins with a small seed, care, and shared good deeds.
