Shared joy from the heart

Volunteers and teenagers brought festive joy to Hesed clients by delivering mishloach manot

Purim is always filled with a special kind of joy - sincere, vibrant, and warm. It reminds us of the power of unity, support, and faith. One of the most important mitzvot of this day is mishloach manot - the giving of sweets and treats to multiply joy and strengthen connections between people.

This year, the fulfillment of this tradition became a true example of unity and care. Participants of the Volunteer Center program of the Cherkasy Regional Jewish Charitable Foundation Hesed Dorot joined the “Bring Joy on Purim” initiative to share the festive spirit with those who need it most - particularly clients living far from Cherkasy.

The preparation for the holiday united volunteers and teenagers - members of the AJT Teens and JeWay clubs. Together, they prepared and packed hamantaschen - traditional Purim pastries. Each package contained not only treats but also genuine attention, warmth, and a desire to support.

The next step was a trip to Uman, where young volunteers delivered the gifts to low-mobility clients. For many, it became an unexpected and deeply emotional moment - joy, gratitude, and even tears accompanied these visits. Some shared that they had not tasted traditional hamantaschen for a long time, and this simple gift brought back the feeling of a true holiday.

This initiative became much more than just delivering gifts. It was a living bridge between generations, a lesson in responsibility for young people, and a reminder for everyone - true joy is born where there is care for others.

Purim teaches us to share light. And through such acts, this light becomes real - in every home, in every heart.
