Sweet Beginning
Ahead of Rosh Hashanah, volunteers within the framework of Good Jam Day prepared fragrant plum jam for the clients
It is impossible to determine which Jewish holidays are the most important or the most beloved — autumn, winter, or spring. Each has its own special meaning, atmosphere, and warmth. Yet it is the autumn holidays that open a new spiritual cycle, and the first among them is Rosh Hashanah — the Jewish New Year, a time of renewal, hope, and bright expectations.
On the eve of the holiday, as part of the Good Jam Day initiative, our volunteers eagerly and enthusiastically set about preparing homemade jam. This year, nature was especially generous — the plums were juicy, ripe, and exceptionally sweet, so very little sugar was needed. The jam was prepared in several sessions, as the harvest was enough for many fragrant batches.
The process was filled with warm conversations, memories, and a sense of shared purpose. Once the jam was ready, it was lovingly poured into jars — now all that remained was to decorate them and prepare them as festive gifts.
Very soon, these sweet treats will reach our clients, bringing them joy, comfort, and a sense of care over a cup of tea. After all, each jar is not just jam, but a symbol of attention, warmth, and a wish for a sweet and blessed new year.
