Think of the good - and everything will be good!
Every Jewish holiday has its culinary tradition, and Purim is no exception.
On the eve of the long-awaited holiday of Purim, within the framework of the all-Ukrainian charitable campaign "Bring Joy," volunteers from our center gathered together to prepare a traditional treat - hamantaschen - for the elderly and lonely members of the community. The Cherkassy synagogue opened its doors, becoming a place where our volunteers lovingly prepared delicious gifts for their wards.
Volunteers enthusiastically set to work. Before long, the sweet triangular pastries with filling were sent to the oven, where they turned into fragrant cookies, the taste of which is associated with Purim for millions of Jews. The result of joint efforts was more than 500 "ears of Haman"!
During the preparation of the holiday treats, volunteers also spent time with children and teenagers. While the cookies were baking in the oven, the youth, under the guidance of volunteers, decorated bags for the hamantaschen to reflect the joyful nature of the holiday to the fullest. Later, this wonderful treat was delivered to the festive table of lonely and elderly members of the community so they could celebrate Purim according to tradition.
On this day, our wards were in for another surprise from the volunteers. They conducted a creative master class called "Colors of Joy," where participants crafted bright and colorful bracelets from threads. Such bracelets will serve as a reminder of the joy of the month of Adar, symbolizing the wonderful Jewish slogan: "Think of the good - and everything will be good!"
Thanks to our volunteers, we managed to fulfill one of the four important Jewish commandments - we prepared gifts for our wards. We are confident that the delicious treat took a worthy place on every table!
