To Be Eco: Time to Act

BEIT DAN Volunteer Platform volunteers conducted environmental activities for children, youth, and senior members of the community

On the eve of Tu BiShvat, the Beit Dan Volunteer Center joined the "To Be Eco" environmental campaign, bringing together children, youth, volunteers, and senior members of the community around the topic of caring for nature and environmental responsibility.

One of the events of the campaign was a microgreens growing workshop for senior members of the community. Participants learned about different types of microgreens, their beneficial properties, and the specifics of growing them at home. During the meeting, everyone had the opportunity to plant seeds with their own hands and even taste fresh microgreens.

The activity was not only educational, but also very warm and engaging. Participants communicated, shared experiences, asked questions, and discovered new healthy habits. It is precisely such meetings that help create an atmosphere of support, interaction, and shared development.

An important part of the campaign was also the educational lecture "Eco-Volunteering", conducted for Beit Dan volunteers. Participants learned about the principles of waste sorting, conscious consumption, ways to reduce plastic use, and the role of each person in preserving the environment.

Special attention was given to successful environmental initiatives in Kharkiv and the possibilities of implementing them in the community environment. Such meetings help volunteers gain new knowledge and tools for implementing their own environmental projects and initiatives.

Children from JFS families also joined the celebration of Tu BiShvat. Volunteers organized a creative workshop for them, during which participants created leaf and tree figures using 3D pens.

For many children, this was their first experience with such a tool, but this did not prevent them from showing their imagination and creating their own bright works. Through creativity, the children became acquainted with the symbolism of Tu BiShvat, learned to notice the beauty of nature, and to feel their responsibility for the world around them.

The campaign concluded with the results of a large environmental collection. Participants managed to collect 831 used batteries and 6 kilograms 700 grams of plastic bottle caps. It was especially gratifying that the most active participants in the collection were children, who enthusiastically joined the sorting and collection of recyclable materials.

The "To Be Eco" campaign once again proved that environmental awareness is formed through concrete actions, joint initiatives, and personal example. Every planted seedling, every collected battery, or plastic bottle cap is a small but important contribution to preserving nature and the future of our planet.

We sincerely thank all volunteers, participants, and partners who joined the campaign. It is thanks to such people that environmental culture becomes an integral part of community life.
