Uniting Seder
A Seder for community members, including natives and displaced persons who left their hometowns
Passover is a significant holiday in Jewish tradition, associated with joy and liberation. Its importance is particularly profound under the challenging conditions of the war in Ukraine and Israel.
Despite air raid sirens and the threat of missile attacks, volunteers from the Kyiv Hesed Center and the Gillel Volunteer Center managed to bring joy to members of the Jewish community from Irpin, Bucha, Vorzel, Hostomel, and Borodyanka by organizing a Passover Seder in Irpin.
The venue for this festive event was the Khargri Art School. This festive Seder was the first one organized by Hesed after many years of hiatus. The participants of the evening included both local members of the Jewish community and many displaced persons who were forced to leave their homes and settle in the Kyiv region among unfamiliar people.
The attendees were able to immerse themselves in the festive atmosphere, momentarily forget all their worries and hardships, and feel like part of one big family. Gathered together at one table, they eagerly absorbed the experience of conducting a Seder, so they could later replicate it in their own homes.
A pleasant surprise for everyone was the Haggadah, printed in Ukrainian, which was used during the festive event. At the end of the evening, all attendees received books, souvenirs, and traditional matzah as gifts.
