Warmth in every spoonful
Every Friday at the Volunteer Center, familiar sounds fill the air — the clinking of dishes, the rustle of knives, the aroma of fresh herbs and warm soup
This means that our volunteers have gathered once again to prepare hot charitable meals for the beneficiaries of VEBF “Hesed-Ariye” as part of the Food Security program.

At first glance, it may seem like a simple initiative — cook soup, pack portions, deliver. But behind it lies a true story of care. A story of attention, thoughtfulness, and humanity.
Every dish is prepared with heart. The menu always features something homemade: hearty soup, fragrant porridge with sauce, vegetables, pastries, or something for tea. But the main ingredient isn’t the food itself — it’s the love with which it’s made. Volunteers start early in the morning: preparing ingredients, setting up the kitchen, sharing ideas, and simply enjoying being together. Because this isn’t just a kitchen — it’s a place of strength, where every action matters.

When it’s time for delivery, the hot meals head to their recipients — lonely, immobile, and vulnerable elderly people who wait for this moment each week. But they’re not just waiting for the food — they’re waiting for warmth, for human presence, even if only for a few minutes. Because the volunteer brings not only food, they bring light.
We know: somewhere in the city, someone is waiting for us. And it’s this knowledge that gives us strength.

We thank everyone who invests their work, time, and heart into this initiative every week. This is more than food — it’s dignity, support, and proof that care can be daily, quiet — yet incredibly important.
Shabbat is approaching, bringing peace, comfort, and good deeds. May everyone have someone to serve them a bowl of warm soup — with love.
