Warmth in the palms
LEV volunteers held a clay therapy session for young people with special needs – about creativity and support
LEV volunteers conducted a special session – this time, young people with special needs worked with clay. Warm, alive, and pliable, it immediately responded to the touch of hands and seemed to invite a quiet, sincere dialogue.
Each participant chose their own pace and mood. Some worked carefully and with focus, shaping details with precision and striving to bring their piece to perfection. Others worked with a smile and imagination, creating unusual forms and images. And for some, the most valuable part was the process itself – the feeling of clay in their hands, its softness and plasticity, and the opportunity to simply be present in the moment.
The space was filled with calm and trust. There were no right or wrong decisions here – only support, acceptance and the joy of small discoveries. When something personal and unique gradually emerges from a shapeless piece of clay, a feeling is born: “I can.” And that is priceless.
These sessions are more than creativity. They support the development of fine motor skills, concentration and imagination. They offer a gentle way to express emotions, relieve tension and build confidence. And they also provide an opportunity to be part of a team, to feel the warmth of shared work and the support of volunteers who are present at every step.
For the volunteers, these meetings are also special. They see how participants open up, how more smiles appear and how the courage to try new things grows. And it is in these seemingly simple moments that a true miracle is born – trust, joy and self-belief.
Because sometimes, warm clay in the palms and sincere presence nearby are enough to make the world a little brighter.
