When Walls Speak
Volunteers painted three shelter rooms — filling them with color, warmth and hope for the children
The result of two days filled with warmth, paint and humanity — that is how we can describe what our volunteers created. During this time, we painted three rooms of the bomb shelter at School No. 5 in Poltava together.
These were not just two days — these were days when people set aside their own affairs, work, and plans to take part in something real. We painted from morning till evening — some held a brush for the first time, others had experience, but everyone worked as one. Every stroke, every detail on the walls — it reflects care, love, and the desire to give children a bit of light even in dark shelters.
Now the walls, which were once gray, have come to life. They “speak” of kindness, hope, and the fact that even underground, there can be a place for color, joy, and life. For the volunteers, it was several hours of inspired work — for the children, it is a new space where they can feel safe and surrounded by beauty.
We thank everyone who joined! You did more than just decorate a shelter — you transformed it into a space of hope, where the walls whisper: “Light is always near.”
